I believe this and other such initiatives are inevitable as in-person working and meeting, such as meetups, have taken a back seat due to Covid and it has become harder to find cofounders in-person. I believe this is a reaction to some trends that YC must have started seeing lately. It’d be interesting to see the long term effect of Covid on startup culture, in particular founding of startups and subsequently success rate of startups founded by remote-only cofounders which may have never met in person.
