I got into movies way back and I'm clocking over 1600 watched according to IMDB. I agree that movies get trite the more you watch. The secret is to watch less mainstream movies. I disagree with the article. Lately I've been watching less movies, but only because lack of time. In fact I've been wishing I spent a bit more watching movies and catching up with my endless TODO list. So yes, movies (or any for of media) can become less surprising the more you consume it, but I believe there is always venue for novelty.
