- jdblair 5y ago"A lemon" is the slang term for a badly manufactured car. Until the 80s there was often a noticeable difference in build quality for the same model. Some customers would even look up what day a particular car was built on, not wanting something finished on Friday afternoon. (Edited for clarity)
