GitHub user that takes the place of user accounts that have been deleted
- rincebrain 5y agoFascinatingly, this is not always the case. There exists at least one other kind of deletion on Github I've seen, where almost all evidence of the account ever existing is purged - the user URL 404s, any issues they ever filed are entirely gone and 404 like they never existed, all their replies on issues/PRs are excised without any note to indicate they ever existed, save for people apparently replying to an account @ that 404s who isn't visible in the conversation... To this day, I do not know what is sufficient cause to trigger this level of purge, just that I unambiguously saw the above effects happen once. (If the API allows it, it's certainly possible that the project I knew this user had posted in scripted this, but I didn't know the GH API allowed you to actually e.g. excise comments without any allusion that they ever existed, just mark them with something that renders them always or by-default hidden with a toggle, but always with a note that they are gone.)
