I shudder to think what will happen if sci-hub is blocked completely. Someone should put it on the blockhain or something :)

  Before scihub, I was in a livejournal Neuroscience community that was mostly researchers - half the posts were "I don't have access to x article, can someone send me the PDF?" We need a better solution to Elsevier etc but the people who most need it (grad students living on a 30k stipend) have little power to fight things, and every reason not to stick their neck out when their future depends on publishing to paid journals.
