After a decade+ of use, I somehow haven't installed Audacity on my newest laptop yet, because I've found sox surprisingly fitting for all my work. It's obviously not a full replacement (cli rather than gui) but if you just want to merge tracks, slow things down, truncate files, etc, you may find that you don't need Audacity either.

- lillesvin 5y agoI used to use ecasound for stuff like that and simple effects and multitrack recording. I found that the simplicity changed my focus to what I was playing rather than how it sounded, and in turn it resulted in me being happier about the music I made. It may not work similarly for everyone though, but for me it made a big difference.
