the GNU tools have bigger featuresets, but from code quality aspect i much prefer the BSD ones it's not targeted at embedded, but it is an experimental project for the time being (the motivation is a split between "because i could", "i wanted to provide polished ports of BSD software" and "i wanted to experiment with making a better package build system")
