When people talk about climate change they mostly focus on rising mean temperature. They fail to realize that variance of the temperature distribution is increasing as well making extreme weather events (in both directions) more likely. Hence, extreme cold spell in Texas in the winter and extreme hot weather in Canada in the summer. We lost weather stability and we should acknowledge that not just in words but in adopting our infrastructure to it (thinking of power grid right now).
