Earth's cryosphere is shrinking by 87,000 square kilometers per year
- MarkusWandel 5y agoThe diagram claims to show "The percentage of each area that experiences ice, snow or frozen ground at some point during the year". But I think it is mislabeled. Where I live - Ottawa, Ontario - is shown in yellow which means 40%. That's about right for the fraction of the year we have ice/snow coverage. But in terms of the labeled quantity, we're at 100%. For several months of the year.
