Thank you for saying this. This has been my pet peeve for a while now. LatinX is not just appropriation, it's cultural imperialism at its finest. It's the "woke" American cultural hegemony trying to dictate what the Latino community can call itself. It's almost disrespectful to our autonomy, our culture and heritage. And I say this as someone who's completely pro the gender-neutral language revolution in his native tongue, Spanish. Latinos can call themselves whatever they want, we don't need the US to start telling us how we need to gender-neutralize our community.
