hmmm....I did the maths. $8.88 for annual domain name registration * 20,000,000 domain names = $177,600,000. Per year. That means year after year. $177 mill this year, $177 mill next year, and so on.
Dude, if someone was giving YOU $177 million per year, what would YOU do? Be all like, "I'm tired of all the supermodels and blow that I can buy. Sure I'll give that money up."
If you contacted me about that and if I was namecheap CEO, I'd be all, "Nuh-uh, I ain't giving up MY 300 foot yacht. But I tell you what, if YOU give me $177 million per year to offset it, I'll gladly get rid of those domains. You got $177 million per year to give me?"
- Annannd99 5y agoThe cost might be a bit less-- domain names can be a lot cheaper than $8, and if you buy in bulk, even better. And yes, NameCheap probably does not want to get involved- probably for the reasons you mentioned. But after the Facebook lawsuit, it is starting to catch up with them. I saw they are starting to get rid of some of these domains- I hope it's true. But the brands need a solution. I did more research. It turns out that Borderoo's IP address is hidden behind Cloudflare. But there are tools to find out their real IP address- NameCheap was using the Cloudflare excuse when I asked them. There is also Whois History, I bought the report. It's a matter of time before I find out who they are. Then I will send that info to NameCheap and see what their next excuse is. NameCheap is even associated with government phishing scams and malware. I wish more was done to protect brands. The solution is about educating and exposing the crimes, until something is done. Any solution suggestions are welcome.
