Bob Dylan, Historian
- fennecfoxen 5y agoAll that, and no mention of the namesake Welsh poet? ... I know a man who's brain's so small He couldn't think nothing at all, not the same as you and me! doesn't dig poetry He's so un-hip, when you say, "Dylan" he thinks you're talking about Dylan Thomas — whoever *he* was! The man ain't got no *cultcha.* — Simon and Garfunkel, "A Simple Desultory Phillipic"

- rurban 5y agoOne interesting unknown fact about Dylan's role as historian is that has spent a lot of money over the past four or five decades funding research into whether this 27 Club blues legend (Robert Johnson) really did sell his soul to the Devil ("Devil at the Crossroad") in exchange for musical talent. I'm all for historical research, but this puts him into Isaac Newton or Goethe-like stupidities: Gravity as proof that a god exists, Farbenlehre. Even worse.
