A Physics Prof Bet Me $10k I'm Wrong
- readonthegoapp 5y agoThis looks pretty cool Wish there was a 2 min version so I could watch it in one minute
- aliasEli 5y agoOne of the essential points of this video is that it is pretty difficult to explain the science behind this. But if you want to know more about it, instead of watching the video you should probably read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackbird_(land_yacht) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackbird_(land_yacht)
- aliasEli 5y agoThis is very good example of how science should work. Someone makes a (somewhat counter-intuitive) claim. Someone else does not believe it. There are some discussions and experiments, and there is a common conclusion. This is a nice video to teach some critical thinking.
- rehto21 5y agoI remember watching the previous video and feeling like I couldn't completely understand his explanation. In this video I think I get it. The lever analogy and the part with the wooden board and wheels was a nice touch. I know many here look down upon YouTube for science videos but hey someone has to do the stupid job of trying to make it simple for the masses and some channels like this are really good at doing that.
- karmakaze 5y agoThe visual that made it click for me was at 18:54 in the original video[0]. It shows the air hitting the propeller losing kinetic energy which becomes the energy ultimately making the vehicle go. I also don't know how you can watch the treadmill video and doubt it after seeing it go up the treadmill unless you believed it was a complete hoax.
