The case of authorization (and other issues) of Sputnik V is described on Wikipedia [1]. In short, they didn't deliver necessary documentation and clinical data on time. Some countries afraid that purchasing this particular vaccine supply will push them into political play with Russia; also, Slovakia's ŠÚKL, State Institute for Drug Control claimed in April that formula of vaccines delivered (they order these despite of EMA processing) differ from what was reviewed by the Lancet journal. Sputnik V is being approved in other countries around the world [2].

- lm28469 5y agoHow's that a bad thing ? If they can't prove its efficiency and safety it shouldn't be used. That's a positive thing I must be missing the point.
- eimrine 5y agoA lot of people including mr Putin are vaccinated with Sputnik. Being vaccinated (for any vaccine) is a must for most kind of workers in Moscow, so millions of Russian people is vaccinated by Russian vaccine. For me it is super strange that Russia and EU can not agree the status of vaccine which is really common in Russia, maybe medical scientists in different countries have different criteria which also makes me to feel uncertain.
- lm28469 5y agoBut again I don't see how these things can be used as arguments to not get vaccinated. There are drugs legal in the US and not in EU, same for food, cosmetics, cars, &c. Russia and the EU are disagreeing about a looot of things all the time since Russia and the EU exist. "I'm not taking vaccine X because vaccine Y isn't allowed in my country", you do you but this isn't logical.
- eimrine 5y agoIt is one of few factors that makes me keep waiting, probably that comes from a mentality of peoples is my country. For example, dozens of years ago an overseas radio station called Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty has been blocked via Government's buzzers and it was possible to listen to it only far from cities. And I really consider it is logical to "not listen to radio X because radio Y isn't allowed".
