Conversely, sometimes you decide it isn't worth it. My senior year of high school, I was being pushed to take 3 AP courses. I thought about what I wanted out of my senior year, and decided I already had what I needed to get into college and wanted to enjoy it. I took 1 AP course instead - and procrastinated in it horribly, but at least my GPA didn't suffer horribly from 1 course. Sometimes you don't need to convince yourself of anything, you need to change course.
