Apple Makes Employees Wear Body Cameras to Control Leaks
- 88840-8855 5y agoAre leaks hurting them from a marketing perspective? There is little true innovation coming from Apple. Most of their products of the past 3-4 years are catching up me-too products: - Apple Music, Apple TV+, Credit Card, VPN service - Touch ID within the screen that might come - Widgets in the recent iOS version .. and so many more. Why should Huawei or Samsung benefit from those leaks we see arriving 2-3 months before the product launch.
- mosselman 5y agoThe M1 chip is a pretty innovative piece of Apple tech. Either way, their secrecy is also part publicity I guess. Also, innovation doesn't sell as well as image does. So maybe Apple is mostly concerned with competitors releasing a new phone that looks a lot like an upcoming iPhone or something. Imagine what it would do to a release if Samsung had just released a phone that looked 90% the same. I do realise most phones look alike, so the 90% is mean more as 90% of the stuff that does differ between phones nowadays, because overall phones are basically flat, black and have camera's on the back.
- literallyaduck 5y agoWhen I walk into Subway they have a camera pointed at the till. Most states are "at will" and as such workers rights are at a minimum. This is a natural consequence of low worker protection.
- NoOneNew 5y agoYea, that's at the till. I mean, come on, wtf would you do if it's your place? Every restaurant and store have cameras pointed at their tills. People still swipe from the register and blame it on other coworkers even though they know theres a camera. That's really not a strong situation to claim "low worker protection". This complaint is more, "Man, why the hell do they make it hard for me to steal money? It should be illegal to stop me from stealing!"

- gundmc 5y agoSomething doesn't add up about this. Is it possible that they're wearing the cameras for some other purpose? Like gathering data or sample footage for an AR project?
- xgkickt 5y ago"The irony is that of all people the leaker to whom Apple no longer wanted to pass on information was the first to bring information of these drastic measures to the public" If Apple made this up in order to find the leaker, sounds like it worked.
