I Douse My Whole Body with Cold Water Every Night
- Karsteski 5y agoI started doing cold showers a few weeks ago after I was forced to take a few at my girlfriend's house (broken water heater). Now I take cold to frigid showers almost all the time, it is incredibly refreshing. Doubly so after a heavy workout. Definitely one of the best accidental discoveries of my life. The difference in how I feel physically and mentally compared to steaming hot showers is stark, I do wish this were more well known. I'd encourage everyone to try it once, and just dive straight in. After the few initial seconds of shock, your body gets accustomed and it starts feeling quite nice, trust :)
- lazypenguin 5y agoWhat is your ritual, turn the water on and then move under the stream or stand under the shower head and then turn the water on? Do you use the coldest setting?
- Karsteski 5y agoI turn the water on then move under the stream. I switch between absolutely frigid and cold (Canadian tap water lol) depending on how I'm feeling.
- polka_haunts_us 5y agoFor me attempting to take cold showers is usally a few seconds of shock, followed by more shock, followed by me nearly cracking my skull as I trip out of the shower to turn the setting to something at minimum lukewarm. I did actually suffer through a cold shower today just because my apartment's interior temperature is at 91F, so maybe there are some differences to this based on local climate and living conditions, as well as personal preference.
- schwartzworld 5y agoI still have poor-guy-brain when it comes to ac. Instead of cooling the whole house, I just take a cold shower every time I get too hot. It buys you like 20 minutes of comfort, maybe more.
