Attempting to do transactional memory (and, I've been told, the 1.2 kW power requirement!) was what sunk Sun's Rock processors.
- monocasa 5y agoI thought the 1.2kw requirement was the four socket system, but each 32 thread chip was 250W. The other 200W were the 4 mem controller dies. And I heard that the HTM worked pretty well, but to be fair nobody really got a chance to prove them wrong. I'm sure Intel was pretty confident in their implementation too.
