"Overweight" is not a terribly high bar to reach. The CDC defines it as "BMI is 25.0 to <30", which for an individual like myself at 6'1" is just 179 lbs, a weight at which I was rail thin and low-muscle mass.
- allturtles 5y agoAccording to https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmi..., 6' 1" reaches 25 BMI at 190 pounds. That seems about right to me for overweight. If you are very muscular it might be inaccurate, but most people aren't.
- umanwizard 5y ago6’1” at 179 lbs corresponds to a BMI of 23.6 which is considered in the normal range.

- giantg2 5y agoAgree. The highest "normal" BMI for my height would require 15 lbs of weight loss. I'll say I could stand to loose upto 10 lbs. I've never been in the normal range in my adult life.
- tluyben2 5y agoI went almost normal (also for the first time in my adult life) and friends and girls (I was unattached at the time) told me I looked like I had a terminal wasting disease. And that was still about 5kg higher than what would be my normal range. So I gave up on that: it is a lot of work and I look like the grim reaper after.
- giantg2 5y agoYeah, in college I dropped to about 190 for a semester (I guess I was 18 at that point, but barely). People would ask me if I was ok or sick or something.
