Torvalds has always been indifferent to the FSF's views, and I don't think that will change even if RMS isn't a part of the FSF.
RMS didn't get cancelled for his opinions on software. 90% of the people who joined the dogpile on RMS couldn't care less if his views were any different. I doubt half those people even knew who RMS was before they saw his name on a Twitter thread while doomscrolling to find things to get outraged by.
- wwarner 5y agoI'm saying that Torvalds believes in the GPLv2, and has consistently and coherently argued that v3 is overreach. But more importantly, there is the issue of surrendering copyright to the FSF, which Stallman requires (when he gets to his email in a timely fashion).
