- crimperton 5y agoIs it really that related? Also, it's always disturbing to read essays with such a strong undercurrent of men-vs-women, literal-war-of-the-sexes thinking, replete with evo-psych just-so stories. Men of the future will abandon womankind for the convenience of gynoids? Women will make babies with each other, but as some sort of evo-psych-needs-fulfillment instead of a happy technological development for gay couples? It's such a radically pessimistic and simplistic view of humanity, and its unspoken assumptions and logical leaps are demeaning to all individuals of all sexes. I won't claim to know why the non-homogenous, outlier population of sexual predators might be deterred or placated by adult entertainment (the main article already raises a number of explanations for the statistical shift that are unrelated to the sort of...evo-psych-needs-theory in the comment link) but it's unwise to trust anyone that comes up to you saying "I know the exact reason and this is it!" EDIT: Also videogames are apparently wish fulfillment for the Y-chromosome's desire to be a polygamous warlord / prolific rapist, despite caveman chieftain harems being a social construct that only existed for a nanosecond on the human evolutionary timescale, if it ever did exist outside of lurid fiction. Poe's law is beginning to kick in.
