I am wary of these MPDI people. We have seen that over 600,000 in the USA have died from covid, plus far more permanently injured by long Covid and heart impairments. That is the result of not vaccinating. We have seen the enormous decline in infections in vaccinated people. and the elimination of almost all deaths in the vaccinated.
We have seen the antivaxxer loons in full flower. We have seen how they were beaten back by science(for the most part).
I think these mdpi people are skulking antivaxxer loons in white coats...
- verdverm 5y agoWith less than half the population vaccinated, can we logically jump to the conclusion that the vaccine is the sole reason for these changes? Has treatment protocol and outcomes improved over the last year? How has lockdown, social distancing, and general behavioral changes in the population contributed to the numbers? Should we not look into the long-term and secondary effects of any widely distributed vaccine or medicine? Bad science happens, good science will prevail, and I suspect the real long-term issue is that the scientific process is being significantly damaged.
- aurizon 5y agoYes, vaccination of 50% of the people results in a four-fold decrease in transmission - more or less. Transmission varies with the virus. Measles is so infective that one person can infect all the susceptible people in a 25 foot square room in 1 minute. SARS-2 is a lot less infectious. Specialists in viral spread can show different maps for each virus - usually over a range of infectivity ratios (R value). Sars-2 = https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30840-9/fulltext https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3... Measles has a value of 12-18...
- verdverm 5y agoThe fact that vaccination rollout and infection rates overlap to the normal flu season cycles has no relevance then? That we aren't at 50% yet have seen the numbers go dramatically down prior to reaching half vaccinated, there must be something else contributing, yes?
