Even if he names mostly climate change, the case is mostly on change and unpredictability.
There are "good" or somewhat intended change caused by new technological developments and discoveries. Something new is created (cars, planes, electricity, computers, internet, and so on) and entire industries become obsolete. But is a change for good as it means the opening of new opportunities.
But the core of why is bad the climate change is one of our firsts uses of predictability: agriculture. You plant your seeds today and know that some months later you will get your crops.
Bad things happened through all history when that turned not to be true. If climate change and extreme weather turns the still infrequent exception lost crops into a new normal, bad things will happen again, and at a bigger scale now.
Maybe some development will happen to protect at scale our main source of food and at least that become predictable again. But it must work in the long term.
