Factory OS
- m-p-3 5y agoMaybe I'm not interpreting this correctly, but isn't that quite similar to Windows Embedded?
- vsskanth 5y agoThis is interesting. Can this be used like a lightweight windows VM ?
- naikrovek 5y agoI think by itself it is going to be a lot like Windows 10 IoT Core but without a graphical shell at all. you can run graphical UWP applications and you won't be able to switch between them unless you write some task switching stuff into your UWP apps. kind of like a kiosk built on CoreOS.
- ripley12 5y agoI spent some time setting this up yesterday. Seems like an updated version of Windows IoT Core (based off Windows 11) that can be customized for OEM use. It looks like the built images can only run UWP apps, Edge, and Win32 apps in a Hyper-V container: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/factoryos/diagnostic-win32-apps https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufactur... There’s some potential for uses outside of OEM scenarios, but it’s understandably not very polished for general use. Still, now that the upgrade work has been been done… feels like they could release a new Windows IoT Core version based on this pretty easily.
