Belarus IT sector hit by exodus after post-vote crackdown
- belter 5y agoI had the chance of working with some IT teams based in Belarus. Was impressed with their professionalism and the excellent quality of their work.
- stevesimmons 5y agoI was talking about this just yesterday with a Belarusian friend who had to flee the country after being detained and beaten up after last year's election. Very sad, because the IT outsourcing company I worked with there was excellent. Their guys were very experienced and they delivered top quality work.
- jakozaur 5y agoPoland welcomes them: 1. Any Belarusian can get humanitarian visa without priori job offer or any serious requirement that allow to enter and work up to a year. 2. Meantime if one of your grandparent got Polish origin, you can go straight to get pernament residency. Polish equivalent of USA green card. Given history this situations are common. 3. The alternative path is to get work permit. Super easy for IT. It took my company 1.5-3 months at total cost 3000 pln including fancy legal advisor (790 usd).
- ArkanExplorer 5y agoPoland is absolutely swallowing up all the young talent of Belarus and Ukraine. Unfortunately, Polish Real Estate prices in large cities are more expensive than in mid-tier American cities.... despite the still lower salaries, and much higher taxes. Additionally, much of the bureaucracy and tax system has still not reformed, since the constant influx of young hot bodies keeps everything afloat no matter what. Its crazy that the USA doesn't offer a simple green card to all these people. Its free very-high-quality human capital.
