Naumachia
- datameta 5y ago> Suetonius' account, written many years after the event, has them salute the emperor with the phrase "morituri te salutant" ("those who are about to die salute you"). There is no evidence that this form of address was used on any occasion other than this single naumachia. So this is when that famous quote allegedly originated.

- Cybotron5000 5y agoThere’s kind of a bit of a (thankfully bloodless) naumachia near Spetses every year at the Armata festival: https://www.greeka.com/saronic/spetses/festivals/armata-festival/ https://www.greeka.com/saronic/spetses/festivals/armata-fest... …related to: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Nauplia_(1822) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Nauplia_(1822) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laskarina_Bouboulina https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laskarina_Bouboulina https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spetses https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spetses
