Stick built framing is the follow on, also called plate building, the plates constituting inter-floor fire stops.
- nickelpro 5y agoThat link describes platform framing as a variant of balloon framing: "The balloon frame addressed this by way of a variant known as 'western style' or 'platform framing'" The piece uses the term "balloon framing" to encompass all light-frame construction as opposed to heavy-frame construction like post-and-beam. It think that's fine, I've certainly heard the term used that way before.
