I'm curious why people trust apps published by banks/credit unions instead of using the substantially similar web pages with a trusted browser and password mana

I'm curious why people trust apps published by banks/credit unions instead of using the substantially similar web pages with a trusted browser and password manager. I've seen a mix of anything from awful to OK from mobile banking apps. My only use case for apps is mobile check deposits, presumably because asking for camera control on mobile devices was beyond the ability of their web developers.
