With the GDPR this is illegal. Your data officer would be furious and your VP probably out of a job for getting a 100.000€ fine.
There is no reason you need that when the user did not submit it, so you have no explicit consent.
As a developer in Europe I live the GDPR. I love my privacy and the privacy of the users. All the marketing and sales stuff has been proofen to not work very well, so what the heck?
