You have to ask what is the motivation to keep the storage usage down, I can't see any. If an app runs at a speed acceptable to the end user, nobody cares.

- bee_rider 5y agoI'm tired of installing hard drives and I've run out of M.2 slots.
- kevin_thibedeau 5y agoLess code correlates with better performance (responsiveness, battery life, bug rate, etc). Running through multiple layers of indirection prevents us from reaping the full benefits of a pocket supercomputer. Nobody knows what they're missing out on because every platform does it.
- arvinsim 5y agoYou will have to 1. Inform users what they are missing out 2. Instill a culture of performance first over features in software dev shops. The financial incentives of doing these are not very compelling.

- chakkepolja 5y agoYou have to ask what is the motivation to keep apps responsive. If the app runs without crashing, nobody cares.
- npteljes 5y agoMore like nobody issuing my paycheck cares. Also funny when people looks at a website and then complain about why the developers would do this. They did it because that's what they get paid for.
- kwhitefoot 5y agoHardly any of the apps on my Moto G5+ run at a speed acceptable to this end user.
