As a solo developer considering releasing - at least a demo - as a web-based game, this article is at least a little reassuring. Even though I'm still not convinced that it would be easy to monetize. Although I'm somewhat convinced that allowing people to play your game - instantly and for free - is highly-desirable.
- meheleventyone 5y agoI think it's demonstrably the case that if you get the link in front of peoples eyeballs they will be much more likely to click it and actually play the demo then if they have to do anything else at all. The hard part is getting the eyeballs on the link in the first place. But that's the same problem you have on Steam and other app stores.
