I've said it before and I'll say it again: consumer tech sucks. From routers and NASes with back doors to lighting systems and thermostats that "need" someone else's computer to function (as though their onboard CPU isn't more powerful than yesteryear's PCs), "caveat emptor" couldn't possibly be more true. Even though I enjoy building my own systems, it's a crying shame that I have to build my own whether I want to or not, and even Micro Center doesn't carry server motherboards with IPMI and a BMC.
