Searching “China” in Apples default Messages app shows no results
- lando2319 5y agoI've replicated this, does someone have a non-censorship explanation for this?
- innagadadavida 5y agoNot necessarily political censorship. Apple has several Chinese leaders and these could’ve been prioritized at their behest - the results were offensive or stereotyped them.
- frumper 5y agoWeb links containing China, iMessage messages and SMS text messages containing China came up for me in a search Edit: I realized the tweet was specific to the images search, not the general iMessage search. China comes up empty for me in that
- innagadadavida 5y agowhichever engineer blocked, should’ve blocked ‘^(china|chinee?)’ instead of ‘^china’. There are results for ‘chineese’ and they are racially insensitive. Making gif search safe is an endless cat and mouse game. The moment you add to the blacklist, folks will be associating the same gif to slight variations of the banned keyword.
