Tornado destroys villages in Czech Republic
- pytlicek 5y agoWatching this on TV news since beginning and it is huge :/ This is IMHO for the first time here in Czechia/Slovakia that we are facing Tornado and its nature power. I have ended up totally speechless when I saw the videos on national TV made by people affected by the storm. Hope this will be the last tornado we see here. Who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ More videos and photos of the storm on Czech national TV webpage: https://ct24.ceskatelevize.cz/domaci/3331250-silne-bourky-v-noci-zvedaly-hladiny-toku-volynka-ci-botic-vystoupaly-na-treti-stupen https://ct24.ceskatelevize.cz/domaci/3331250-silne-bourky-v-...

- fsloth 5y agoThis is quite exceptional. Seems like the last event as severe as this in Europe was in 1997 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_tornadoes_and_tornado_outbreaks https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_tornadoes_and...
- fart32 5y agoI always wondered why people in Florida don't build houses out of bricks instead of wood as we do. I thought they would do much better against a tornado. It's now obvious that's not the case - quite the opposite, in fact, as the bricks and other heavy materials torn apart cause more collateral damage, crushing whatever (and sadly, whoever) is around on fall.
