Not mocking people with mental health issues isn't "PC nonsense" but common decency.
I imagine people like you during Turing's time would have built museums to "crazy homosexuals" to mock them.
Thankfully, saner minds prevail.
- mastazi 5y agoI think that the parent might be referring to the person whose story is narrated in the article, not Alan Turing.
- jarofgreen 5y agoI think the person replying gets that and they are right, she shouldn't be in such a museum. She clearly had a terrible childhood and I would hope people here would have enough naunce to disapprove of the theft whilst also sympathising with her. A museum of human behaviour might be interesting actually, but framing really matters here. If it in any way encourages people to just laugh at them rather than empathising it's doing more harm than good. If it was literally going to be called "museum of crazy" that's a bad first step.
- mastazi 5y agoI think it's a matter of angle, in western popular culture "crazy" often has a positive connotation, for example I remember seeing an ad with the line "For the crazy ones". In other instances, it's the opposite, in my wife's home country for example, "crazy" is used as an insult and it's highly offensive. Edit: the ad was this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjgtLSHhTPg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjgtLSHhTPg
