The last time I was heavily into game development, I chose to develop only on a $350 laptop, for exactly that reason. The strategy really does work. The first time I ran it on a gaming machine was after it was done, and it ran like a dream.
- ludocode 5y agoI remember spending days trying to optimize some photo-scanning code in an app I was building and getting seriously frustrated with it. "This should be instantaneous!" Turns out I forgot / didn't notice I was running it under Valgrind the whole time. It was plenty fast once I ran it normally. There's another strategy for you :)
