I was going to mention my waterproof camera (old Nikon Coolpix) which has GPS, but I double-checked first, and you're right... same sensor size as the iPhone. And the software processing in the phone is miles ahead, even in 2017 it was a wash. But it is lovely to import the photos from it into the photos app and just have them slide in right next to the phone photos, and on the map view too.
