Did Apple just "invent" Webautn? Safari already supports it today, I'm not sure what's new here, except that now the certificates will be synched via keychain.

Did Apple just "invent" Webautn? Safari already supports it today, I'm not sure what's new here, except that now the certificates will be synched via keychain.
Also they present it as an alternative to passwords but most sites currently use Webauthn as second factor only, and usually have to support other options such as TOTP (Google Authenticator codes) because Weabuthn is not available everywhere.
