I’m not sure “norms” are avoidable. How many posts do we see to various github issues where people haven’t been “delighted” with the maintainer’s response? We are highly defensive of the rights that floss/copyleft licences grant us, but highly dismissive of the “no implied warranty” verbiage that goes with them. That appears to be this maintainer’s issue. And it does come at a cost. There’s a very strong chance his next project won’t be floss/copyleft.
