In my opinion:
A progressive tax structure would have made this the people's money to spend. You spend it on what seems fit to the people (via your elected representative) - health care for example.
You have lost control of your money This money is now beholden to a group of individuals who can decide what works best for them. It could be malaria or it could be building a spaceship to Mars. The decision is not yours.
- ctvo 5y agoAnd these people could have decided to keep that money or like her former husband spend it on 100 million dollar boats. She decided to donate it instead. That’s something to celebrate.
- Jochim 5y agoWhile I'm glad this one person has decided to do what in my opinion is "the right thing" it's also a prime example of how horrifyingly unbalanced our system is. As a result it's difficult to feel celebratory since the ends do not typically justify the means.
