Sadly, it’s another case of some software author having a prima donna complex.
NixOS is quite a niche distribution. Of the comparatively small overall number of users, the number of those that are going to use his library, is an even smaller subset. A small subset of them will have a bug to report, and a smaller number of them yet will take it to the upstream.
So the author makes a fuss about getting drowned in maybe 1.5 people creating three requests in 5 years. Doesn’t compute. Complaining about burnout long before you burn out?
- klyrs 5y ago> Complaining about burnout long before you burn out? One issue that many of us face in OSS is that it's a side project. If a developer is burnt out by their day job, or some other aspect of life, then their tolerance for pushy maintaners drops to zero even if they still occasionally unwind by working on the project.
- WesolyKubeczek 5y agoAs far as I can see, it's his job and not a side project anymore. His LinkedIn lists him as full time developer on HomeAssistant, and elsewhere I've heard Nabu Casa is sponsoring him. His day job must suck, yeah.
