This is not a complicated issue. Open source affords one twins one might think as undeniable, but that doesn't mean authors have no voice. It just means that voice isn't backed by people weapons and military training with the express authority & purpose to use all of the above. The idea that the author's voice deserves to be heard and considered is essential to a vibrant community. Authors living and dying by their communities' perception and response to hear ideas/opinions is the point.
