- twright 5y agoI second this! It stands separate from the pop-Egyptology documentaries we’re so used to seeing on those science/history cable channels and YouTube recommendations. Amazing to see the whole excavation process by the people who actually do it.
- AlotOfReading 5y agoIt's worth mentioning that it's been criticized by many archaeologists for showing problematic artifact handling and very rushed excavation procedures that aren't reflective of modern best practices. They also hyped up the dramatic narrative angle, which was admittedly necessary to make the thing watchable. It's still one of the better docs out there, but still not to be taken as "this is how archaeology is supposed to be done".
- irrational 5y agoThat sounds kind of like how every new developer that takes over someone else’s work thinks that the previous coders did subpar work and it would have been done right if they had done it.
