Google and Facebook set the bar for other companies to match or even exceed to attract talent. Without this pressure, I’d expect salaries to drop significantly across the board.
- Apocryphon 5y agoAgain, I keep mentioning there are other highly competitive corporations out there, and have mentioned multiple. At this point all of these companies are competing not only with Google and Facebook, but each other. The turnover rate at Google and Facebook would not nearly be as high as they are now if there weren't compelling alternatives. So at some point, the most distinguishing aspects would be 1) the specific FAANG equity (which as mentioned, might not nearly be as game-changing as in previous years), and 2) the FAANG name, which some of these other companies certainly give a run for the money for.
