I had open heart surgery just about one year ago. It was done at UCLA Med Center, reputedly one of the best if not the best hospital in California, by the best cardiac surgeon west of the Mississipi. I spent a week in the hospital followed by one month of convalescent care at home. I'm covered by Medicare. My total out of pocket cost was ZERO, other than the standard insurance premium I pay.
