I love paper maps because:
- scale is fixed, so 1 finger = x minutes walk
- wide area view
Every time I look at a map on my phone centered on my location I'm thinking I'm cheating, spoling the fun of finding where I am.
- will-bradley 5y agoThis is a great attitude, but there's a lot of people out there who don't find orienteering fun, they just want to get into and back out of nature safely: the natural surroundings are what's fun to them and they don't want to spend the time double checking the map and compass.
