i've volunteered quite a bit on prevention lines. he absolutely should not be asking potentially suicidal people to WhatsApp him. if you're not trained you can have the best intentions and still bring about the worst outcome.

Unhappy humans have been speaking to other humans for thousands of years without anybody setting up arbitrary "trainings" about it and meaningless certifications that allow us to pretend that we can stave off the psychological chaos involved in being alive. I think it will be okay. And even if it's not okay, it already wasn't okay in the first place.
