A lot of the comments are focused on the headset subsidizing but it seems most people overlook the drawback of this: it kills competition. Now you are either a FAANG company capable of monetizing your users to the extent FB can, or you can't even start thinking of entering the standalone headset market with a price tag twice of FB. This is very bad for VR in my opinion.
