DALnet (Bahamut, a fork of Dreamforge which descends from ircu)
This is incorrect. DreamForge descends from irc2.8.20[0].
Also, if you look at the code they're basically the same with the exception of TimeStamps. They've also removed the "services" support stuff and adopted the U:line paradigm later.

- hlandau 5y agoThanks for the correction! Updated.
- throwaway29303 5y agoNo problem. Check out their code there's pretty interesting stuff over there.
- throwaway29303 5y agoBy the way, if anyone wishes to build the latest dreamforge (df467.tar.gz) you're going to have a hard time because that code is very old, also once you link two servers you're going to have to change some code around sendto_common_channels() IIRC. Not only is it hard to compile due to the various code hacks, the protocol logic is broken as well. But once that's out of the way you'll have something somewhat workable. Good luck for anyone who wishes to touch that. I've done that out of pure software archeological and curiosity driven pleasure. Awesome times were had.
- hlandau 5y agoI might be doing some digging into IRC archeology soon, so would be interested in knowing people knowledgeable in IRC history. Maybe drop me a PM if you like? [1] [1] https://www.devever.net/~hl/contact https://www.devever.net/~hl/contact
