Interesting because my co-workers always ask me to change __bold__ to *bold* even though both are correct. I tend to switch between * and __ depending upon how my writing is structured.
Anyone else feel strongly one way of the other?
- WalterGR 5y agoI feel strongly. _This_ is italics (strictly, underline) and *this* is bold. Underline is used rarely any more, but if it's required, then _this_ is underlined, /this/ is italics, and *this* is bold. While I feel very strongly about this, I cannot justify my feelings.
- minimaxir 5y agoI asked the question because Prettier Markdown formatting will convert asterisks-to-underscores for italics, but keep asterisks for bold. I'm guessing that's a CommonMark rule?
